Alfred (Al) Hugh Halseth, 68, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016 following a short illness.
Al was born May 6, 1947, in Joplin, Mo., to Hugh H. Halseth and Eldora M. Scheckel, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by many close friends including his best bud, Jeff Talbot, who passed away in October, 2015. He had spent the past year living in San Antonio, TX with Jeff and his wife, Sarah.
Al graduated from Joplin High School in 1965 and received a B.S.B.A. degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln “Go Huskers!” He later attended MSSU, where he pursued degrees in English and History and was one of the original owners and founders of Crabby’s Seafood Bar and Grill. He was a devoted film fan and avid classic movie collector with a meticulously catalogued personal movie library of more than 500 films.
Survivors include a son, Chance Halseth of Joplin; a step-son, Yancy McKnight and wife, Lynn of Houston, TX; a granddaughter, Mollie Jain Halseth of Raymore, MO.; and two step-grandsons, Brock and Brody McKnight of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Joy Halseth of Joplin.
Additional survivors are two sisters, Helen Lansaw of Joplin and Margaret Parrish and husband, Jack, of Carl Junction; three brothers, Fred Billingsley and wife, Carolyn, of Joplin; James Billingsley and wife, Lorraine, of Independence, MO and Richard Billingsley of Kansas City, MO; nine nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews, whom he adored, and many close, extended family members and lifetime friends, far too many to count.
Al was a free spirit with a deep faith in God and had accepted His plan for our salvation.
Al had requested to be cremated. A memorial tribute will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Parker Mortuary of Joplin. The family will receive friends at the mortuary following the tribute.
