Lora Jean Hofer, 88, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at Galena Nursing Center.
She was born May 19, 1927 at Crestline, KS, the daughter of Tony and Amy Scott. She attended Weir schools and graduated from Weir High School. She attended beauty school in Joplin, MO, and graduated in 1947.
She was united in marriage to Harvey L. Dickinson in 1947and they later divorced. On December 20, 2002, she was united in marriage to Bill Hofer. He survives of the home. Lora was a Hairdresser for over 54 years and owned her own Beauty Shops in Pittsburg, KS, Greenfield, MO, and Sheldon, MO. Lora loved life. She also loved dancing and going to the casino. She also enjoyed being with family and she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. Membership was held in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Cindy Chase and her husband Bill of Loma Linda, MO; a son, Randall Dickinson of Kansas City, MO; three granddaughters, Adrianne Marzigliano and her husband Dominick of Pompano Beach, FL, Alexandra Ross of Kansas City, MO, and Danielle Dickinson of Pittsburg, KS; and a great-granddaughter Sophie Marie Ross Hatfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s, Charles Hackney and James E. Keesee, and a sister Fern Sixkiller.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (Jan 23) at the Brenner Mortuary with Father Robert McElwee as celebrant. A private burial will be take place at a later date in the Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the Humane Society. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
