Kenneth D. Helm, 83, Carthage, MO, passed away Friday morning, January 8, 2016 at the Missouri Veteran’s Home, Mt. Vernon, MO. Kenneth Douglas Helm was born November 28, 1932 in Lincoln Valley, ND to the late Louis Helm and Vehona (Kairshmen) Helm. Kenneth served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Arlyce I. Borg on September 28, 1952 in Turtle Lake, ND; she survives. He worked in farming and agriculture all of his life. Kenneth was a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters; Mary Helm Biesterveld (husband Rick), Carthage, MO, Arla Hagen, Carthage, MO, and Vanessa Coates (husband Lennie), Carthage, MO; three sons; Kevin Helm (wife Jessica), Carthage, MO, and Leonard Helm, Carthage, MO and Kelly Helm, Carthage, MO; one sister; Violet Tomlinson (husband Stanley), Turtle Lake, ND; one brother; Harold Helm (wife Norma), Moorehead, MN; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kenneth Helm, and two brothers, Elroy Helm and Wesley Helm.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bob Morgan will officiate. Inurnment will take place in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO, at a later date.
