Opal Faye Armstrong, 93, Wyandotte passed into eternal rest at 6:55 pm, January 7, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness.
Opal Faye (Thompson) Armstrong was born February 26, 1922 at Hart, MO the daughter of Charley and May (Kelley) Thompson. Opal attended Hart School and graduated from Anderson High School, Anderson, MO. She had lived in the Wyandotte, Ok area for several years, moving to Newkirk, OK in 1964 and moved back to Wyandotte in 1981. She worked several years at the Newkirk Nursing Center and she was a member of the Eastern Stars in Fairland, OK. Opal received her 50 year pin from the Eastern Star in 2005. She was also a member of the Tiff City Willing Workers Club, a member of the Council House Ladies Aid, a member of the Neutral Lands Cherokees in Baxter springs, KS, where she served on the Council and was an Elder. Opal was a member of the Seneca Assembly of God Church and attended church at Miller Flats Assembly of God in rural Wyandotte.
Opal Faye Thompson married Enos Lee Armstrong on July 29, 1948 in Bentonville, Ark and he preceded her in death April 22, 1996. She also was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Wanda Lee Armstrong and Janet Kay Beetem; two brothers, Earl Odell Thompson and Charles Wayne Thompson; three sisters, Ruby Fern Bruner, Pauline Mae Whitehill and Gladys Pearl Thompson; one granddaughter, Tracy Lynn (Testerman) Lovell and one grandson Travis Dean Armstrong.
Survivors include two sons, Darrel Wayne Armstrong and wife Treava, McAlester, OK and Ricky Delaine Armstrong and wife Sherry, Wyandotte, OK; four daughters, Marilyn Loretta Convirs and husband Wayne, Wyandotte, Joyce Ann Testerman and husband Charles, Kathryn Elaine Schafer, Wyandotte and Beverly Sue Waldeck, Wyandotte; one sister, Phyllis Low, Simi, CA; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends and extended family.
Funeral services under the personal direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Seneca Assembly of God Church with Rev. Don Staggs and Rev. Denny Sikes officiating. Burial will be in the Council House Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM, Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the donors favorite charity in memorial of Opal.
