Clarence Dwayne Jeffries, Carthage, 76, a retired accountant passed away Friday January 28, 2016 at his home.
Dwayne was born in Humansville, Mo, the son of John W. Jeffries and Mildred (Kennedy) Jeffries. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Carthage. A 1958 graduate of Carthage High School, a member of the National Honor Society. Dwayne received his B.S.B.A. from Missouri Southern State University and MBA from Drury College. He authored numerous accounting manuscripts. He retired from Doan Products Company in Joplin as Assistant Controller and Treasurer and for Ozark Center-Freeman Health Systems, Joplin as Accounting Supervisor. Dwayne was formerly past president of Joplin Tri- State Chapter National Association of Accountants; past president of Optimist Club of Joplin, Past Lt. Governor of West Missouri District Optimist International; past vice president of MSSU Alumni Board and past president of Carthage Public Library Board; former member of Kiwanis Club of Joplin and Friends of Carthage Public Library.
Dwayne was united in marriage to Janice Todd on August 27, 1958 in Pineville, Missouri. She survives.
Dwayne is survived by his wife Janice Darlene (Todd) Jeffries of the home, two daughters: Deborah Kay Campbell of Pea Ridge, AR and Barbie Sue Smith; husband Mike Smith of Brandon, Mississippi. 7 grandchildren Sandy Watson, Tara Frutiger, Amber Massey, Sarah Hull, Michael Smith, Jr., Nicholas Smith and Katie Treadway and 13 great grandchildren. Dwayne is also survived by brothers: William Kenneth Jeffries and Timothy Kent Jeffries of Carthage and John Nathan Jeffries of Forsyth, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents the Rev. William and Mildred Irene Jeffries.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 2, 2016 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday February 1, 2016 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Cancer Association in care of the Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences maybe sent at www.ulmerfh.com.
