Donald Gene (Don) Carr of Sarcoxie, Missouri went peacefully to his heavenly home on May 27, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to Francis and Harriett (Norris) Carr on December 4, 1931 in Ivanhoe, California. Don worked at Steadley's and Big Smith in Carthage, Missouri and the City of Sarcoxie, Missouri and the Sarcoxie School District. Don was an active member of the Sarcoxie Methodist Church, having taught the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday school Class for a number of years as well as a member of the choir.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Debbie Dunn; two sons, John Armstrong IV and Jim Armstrong; two grandsons, Jacob Dunn and John Armstrong V.; sister, Ina Edwards and brother, Danny Carr.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis Carr, of the home; daughters, Connie (Mark) Foster, of LaRussell, Marian (Max) Thorn of LaRussell, Margery (Garry) Ellis of Wentworth and a chosen daughter, Kathy Pruitt of Sarcoxie; one sister, Bonnie (Estal) Stewart of Bolivar, one Aunt, Catherine (Floyd) Graham of Carthage; as well as numerous nieces; nephews; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; neighbors and friends.
Graveside memorial services are 11:00 a.m. June 10, 2017 at the Sarcoxie Cemetery with Pastor James Yost officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has directed contributions to the Sarcoxie Senior Center and may be left with the funeral home.
