Emily Blanchard

Emily Ann Blanchard, age 73, of Lamar, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin following a short illness.

Emily was born September 11, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Bill and Lottie Puckett. On September 28, 1972, in Bentonville, Arkansas, she married Kenneth Blanchard and they have made their home in Barton County for many years.

In addition to being a devoted wife and homemaker, Emily had worked at Thorco, Rogers Rods & Lures, and O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar. She used her artistic abilities in a multitude of craft projects, enjoyed decorating her yard and gardening with Kenneth. She took great pleasure in helping others was a dedicated volunteer at the Good Samaritan Shop for 20 years.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Kenneth; her children, Levi (Ivy) Hites of Seneca and Elaine Cline of Kenoma; a step-son, Kerry (Pat) Blanchard, Lamar; two brothers, George Puckett, Lamar and Roy (Pat) Puckett, Nevada; a sister, Donna Newton, Nevada; 14 grandchildren, Skye Cox, Japan, Laresa Lathrop, Sheldon, Seth Cline, Lamar, James Hites, Lamar, Emily Hites, Nevada, Jene Hites, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Dana Hites, Fayetteville, Jason Jones, Seneca, Jeremy Bryant, Seneca, Christina Bryant, Seneca, Scott Bryant, Joplin, Josh Blanchard, Kenny Blanchard, Lamar, and Arlo Ward; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents and a step-daughter, Pam Ward.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31st at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Good Samaritan Shop in care of the funeral home.
