Mildred L. Ruddick, age 85, passed away on Monday May 29, 2017, at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Enid, Ok., following an illness.
Mildred was born on December 17, 1931 in Ottawa, Ks., the daughter of the late Clyde R. and Treva A. (Keeler) Romstedt. She had been a resident of Joplin since 1965.She moved to Enid, Ok. four years ago, to be near her daughter.
Mildred married John E. Ruddick on March 20, 1951 in Bentonville, Ar., together they raised a blended family of nine children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed playing Bingo, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Hobbs, Enid, Ok.; four sons, David Ruddick and his wife Janie, Columbus, Ks, Charles Ruddick, Joplin, James Ruddick, Joplin, and Daniel Ruddick and his wife Regina Davis, Carl Jct., Mo.; one step-daughter, Janice Horsley, Wichita, Ks.; one brother, David Romstedt; three sisters, Dale Wilson and her husband David, Linda Endicott, and Alma Robertson; twenty-two grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Ruddick in 1999; one son, Mark Ruddick in 1991; two step-daughters, Dorothy Ann Rich and Drucilla Jane Rhodes; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Ruddick.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Matt McGuirk will officiate.
