Lloyd Long

Lloyd W. Long, age 97, of Grain Valley, Missouri, formerly of Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017.

He was born February 11, 1920 in Carl Junction, Missouri, to Willie and Jessie (Cooley) Long.

Lloyd served in the United States Navy. Prior to serving in the United States Navy he worked for Kansas Expiration Mining Company. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home and worked in farming and retired from Sperry-Vickers after 20 years.

He married Lillian Garrison on June 4, 1938 in Webb City, Missouri and she preceded him in death on May 20, 2001. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Lloyd Gerald Long and Billie Paul Long; one daughter, Barbara Ann Long; two brothers and two sisters.

Lloyd is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Jean Fosdal; one sister, Georgia M. Shamburg; eight grandchildren, Roger Long, Rick Long, Rob Long, Lanny Stiles, II, Rochelle Kolle, Daryl Crane, Cheryl Walker and Carol Daily; 14 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home with Boyce Mouton, Minister, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Carl Junction Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Those gentlemen honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Drew Long, Zach Long, Logan Stiles, Michael Walker, Cooper Stiles and Chris Long. Honorary pallbearers are Maverick Alexander and Mitchell Alexander.
