Bea Choate

Zelma Bernice (Bea) Choate, 80, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Bea entered this life on September 2, 1936 in Sarasota, Florida to the union of the late Roy and Wilma (McDonald) Crawford. She was a lifelong resident of the Reeds, Missouri area. She was united in marriage to Harlan Choate on April 19, 1963. Bea had wonderful work ethics, retiring from Rex Metallic Casket Company in Webb City, Missouri and O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar, Missouri. Bea also served as the City Collector for Reeds, Missouri for a number of years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, cross word and game shows, as well as spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Floyd Collins and Harlan Choate; one daughter, Tina Collins; granddaughter, Emily Oglesby; step daughter, Roxy Turpitt; and one sister, Belua Goodnight.

Bea is survived by her children, Pamela Lambert and husband Randy, of Jefferson City, Missouri, Ronica Collins of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, Carla Collins of Carthage, Missouri, Donna Oglesby and husband Randy, of Lamar, Missouri, Donald Choate and wife Brandy of Greenfield, Missouri; grandson, Anthony Collins who she raised as a son; step children, Tony Choate and wife Betty of Carthage, Missouri, Ricky Choate of Springfield, Missouri, Deanna Collins of Carthage, Missouri and Gene Collins and wife Carol of Springfield, Missouri; several grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Bill Crawford and wife Kathy, of Peoria, Arizona, Rosemary Poindexter of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Barbara Ligenfelter and husband Paul, of Reeds, Missouri, Helen Hall and husband Terry, of Carthage, Missouri, William Goodnight and Benny Goodnight, both of Reeds, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.



Funeral services for Mrs. Choate are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri with Pastor Kevin Sheat officiation. Interment will follow in Jasper Cemetery, Reeds, Missouri. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Nathan Lambert, Chris Lambert. Tony Collins, Dillan Oglesby, Brandon Collins and Aaron Choate. Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Choate, Michael Sutton and Mariah Harding. Memorial contributions may be directed to the River Street Food Bank in Carthage, Missouri and may be left at the funeral home.
