(From Daniel Funeral Home)Bonnie Beth O'Neal, age 78, of Lamar, Missouri passed away May 1, 2021, at her home.
Bonnie was born April 30, 1943 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Lucien Everett Whitten and Bonnie Mae (Sellers) Whitten. On July 7, 1965, Bonnie married James (Jim) Frederick O'Neal in Miami, Oklahoma.
Bonnie received her bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University and master's degree from Pittsburg State University. She worked as an elementary and special education teacher from 1967 to 1997 for the Lamar R-1 School District.
She volunteered and taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church, was a member of PEO and was the founding Project Graduation Coordinator in 1990. Bonnie loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Jim O'Neal, two sons; Chris (Chastity) O'Neal and Pat (Michelle) O'Neal, all of Lamar, seven grandchildren; Whitten O'Neal, Brianna O'Neal, Alex O'Neal, Connor O'Neal, Sam O'Neal, Victoria O'Neal and Spencer O'Neal.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Lamar First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lake Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, May 3, 2021 at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, MO.
