(From Buchanan Funeral Home)Joe F. Barnes, 78, of Monett, MO, went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2021 at his home.
Joe was born on October 24, 1942 in Chillicothe, MO, son of the late Eugene “Pappy” and Reba (Spence) Barnes.
Joe graduated from Chillicothe High School, Class of 1960. He retired from Friend Tire Company in Monett, as a salesman, after 38 years.
Joe enjoyed the outdoors, riding his motorcycle and taking his family to the lake for an afternoon boat ride. He restored his father's 1953 Ford pick-up and enjoyed taking it to car shows. He was a very talented woodworker and built each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren a toybox, that they will cherish forever. Joe was a member of the Waymark Church (First Baptist Church) in Monett where he taught Sunday School for many years. The time Joe spent with his grandchildren, watching them with their various activities was what he enjoyed the most. He loved his family dearly and was a devoted Husband, Father and Papaw. His family finds comfort knowing that he is now with the Lord.
On December 2, 1962, Joe Barnes and Sheryl Sue Pond were united in marriage in Chillicothe, MO. To this union, three children were born.
Joe is survived by his wife Sue of the home; two daughters, Natalie Kaiser and husband Mark and Valerie Terry and husband Scott both of Monett; one son, Eric Barnes of Loma Linda, MO; nine grandchildren, Kelsey Strong and husband Cody of Mt. Vernon, MO, Katie Weathermon and husband Josh of Mt. Vernon, MO, Clayton Kaiser of Monett, Blake Poage of Monett, Peyton Poage of Monett, Keith Barnes of Loma Linda, MO, Jordan Terry of Purdy, Jake Terry of Monett and Macy Terry of Purdy; four great-grandchildren, Jase, Axl, Jhett and Grayson; two brothers, John Barnes and wife Julie of Chillicothe, MO and Mike Barnes and wife Cindy of Franklin, IL; two sisters, Birdie Ann Kieffer of Chillicothe, MO and Penny Chauvin and husband Ben of League City, TX; one sister-in-law, Cindy Barnes of Chillicothe, MO; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jim Barnes.
Memorial service for Joe will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Waymark Church (First Baptist Church) in Monett. Reverend Robert Bradow officiating. The family will receive friends at the Waymark Church on Friday, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been requested to the Waymark Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
