(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)Wanda Mae Harris Shepherd, 83, of Carthage, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Wanda was born August 31, 1937 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, one of five children born to the late Lyle Oakley and Loretta (Hagler) Weatherly. She graduated from Fair Play High School.
Wanda worked for Carthage Junior High as their snack bar manager and also worked for the Carthage Walmart for 14 years. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Carthage. Wanda loved listening to Doris Day. She was always friendly and never met stranger.
Wanda was a loving mother and she truly had a beautiful soul. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Harris and Marvin Shepherd; and three siblings, David Weatherly, Lonnie Weatherly, and Odette Fisher.
She is survived by her children, Chuck Haver (Joyce) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Debbie Haver of Webb City; four grandchildren, Christie Sanders (Marvin) of Carthage, Dustin Haver (Kristin) of Durango, Colorado, Sandy Dillard (Michael Jr.) of Joplin, and Jesse Boyd of Branson; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Sanders, Will Haver, Marynn Haver, and Zezra Dillard; her sister, Dorothy Sawyer; her loving companion, Don Hataway; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City with Pastor Alan McCamey officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at a later date at Lindley Creek Cemetery near Bolivar, Missouri.
