Hazel Cooper

Mrs. Hazel Eva “Grandma Bean” Cooper, 91, of Lanagan, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after a brief illness.

Hazel entered this life on August 11, 1930, in Grinnell, Kansas, daughter of the late Samuel and Ida May (Close) Sherman. She was raised in Lanagan and was a 1949 graduate of Noel High School. 









 On September 6, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert Paul Bemiss and to this union five children were born. They resided in Wellington, Kansas and Lajunta, Colorado while Robert worked in Construction. 

 Robert passed away suddenly on February 1, 1958, and in 1963, Hazel moved her family back home to Lanagan. She retired at the age of seventy-two from Freeman Neosho Hospital after thirty-one years of employment as a Nurse's Aide. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and board games.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Paul Bemiss and Robert Cooper; a son, Roy Bemiss; a grandson, Robert Paul Bemiss; two infant great grandchildren; a great-great grandson, Asher Paul Taylor; and a son-in-law, Dan Stone.








Hazel is survived by her four children, Mike Bemiss and wife, Kathy, of Joplin, Sandra Cash of Taft, California, Gloria Stone of Anderson and Judy Gann and husband, Kevin, also of Anderson; a daughter-in-law, Faith Bemiss of Sedalia, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Lena Belle Evans of Bentonville, Arkansas; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2022, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Scott Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Jamey Weber, Keaton Weber, Kade Weber, Chris Kilby, Raven Toney and Eric Gann.
