(From Ozark Funeral Home)Mr. Jim L. DuMond, 89 of Rocky Comfort, Missouri departed this life on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his home after a brief illness with his loving family by his side.
Jim was born on October 29, 1933 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to the late William Alexander DuMond and Anna Madeline (Dolly) Walkley. Jim and his family moved to Rocky Comfort from Buena Park, California in 1969 and has lived in this area ever since.
He was united in marriage in 1955 to the love of his life, Dawn Lynn DeWitt for 67 years, who survives. To this union, six children were born; five sons and one daughter.
Jim started his working career as a Crane Operator in Southern California where he was instrumental in helping build the Dodger’s Stadium and the Los Angeles International Airport. He loved working with machinery of any kind and you could always find him on a tractor or mower. He spent most of his life self-employed and was talented in many occupations too numerous to mention. He loved golfing and building new computers.
He was preceded in death by his first-born son as a baby, Jimmy Garth DuMond and three grandsons, Shan Lee DuMond, David Arnold DuMond and Damon L. DuMond and his brother, George DuMond.
Jim is survived by his four sons, and a daughter; Shan DuMond and wife Lynda, Jamie DuMond Haase and husband Don, of Rocky Comfort, David DuMond of Stella, Damon DuMond of Goodman and James Lance DuMond and wife Teresa of Rocky Comfort.
He has nine surviving grandchildren, Dene’e, Annie, Jennifer, Casey, Rachel, Matthew, Jake, Amberly, and Coty. There are twenty-one Great grandchildren with the last one being born on Grandpa’s Birthday! Jim also has three Great Great Grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Jim DuMond will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Owsley-Union Cemetery in Stella, Missouri with Don Haase officiating.
