Anita Baldwin

On November 3, 2023, Anita Baldwin of Greenfield, Mo, who was known as ‘Gran’ to most, entered the gates of Heaven.

Anita Mae (Grantham) Baldwin was born on September 17, 1928 in Everton, Mo to Ron and Irene Grantham. She was born and raised in Everton, Mo where she graduated high school at the age of sixteen. She then went on to study to become a teacher. 

Anita graduated from what is now Missouri State University with a teaching degree. She started her career as a teacher, starting out at Pennsboro, then Greenfield. 








After several years of teaching, Anita went to work as a Case Worker for the Division of Family Services in Greenfield where she finished her career and retired in 1989.

Anita married John T. Baldwin in 1949 at her childhood home in Everton, Mo. They had two beautiful daughters, Jana Beth and Mary Ann. Gran has 5 grandchildren, Drew Abbadessa, Morgan (Shawn) Wright, Wade (Kayde) Abbadessa, Travis McDowell and Ashton (Kyle) McClure. Gran was blessed to not only have five beautiful grandchildren but also 5 great-grandchildren, Ayla and Oakley Wright, Henry and Marlow McDowell, and Jax Abbadessa. They were her proudest accomplishment. She stated on numerous occasions that those kids were ‘the reason she wanted to live’.








Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, November 7th at the Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pennsboro Cemetery. There will not be a formal visitation with the family present, but friends and family are welcome to view and pay their respects at their convenience on Monday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. 

 Memorials can be made to the Emmanual Baptist Church or the Pennsboro Cemetery.
