(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Vernon Joe Miller of Welch, OK passed from this life Saturday, April 11, 2026 at his home. He was 91.
Joe was born July 6, 1934 in Welch, OK to Thomas W. and Nancy Ann (Parks) Miller. He had lived in the Welch area all his life and was a 1953 graduate of Welch High School. He served in the United States Army.
Joe had worked for B.F. Goodrich in Miami, OK, owned and operated Miller's Dairy Bar in Chetopa, KS and was a cattle rancher. He attended First Assembly of God Church in Miami, OK and Chetopa, KS.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Alta Miller on January 6, 2021, his parents Thomas and Nancy Miller, 8 brothers, Fred Miller, Frank Miller, Woodrow Miller, E.V. "Turk" Miller, Jack Miller, Tom Miller, Bill Miller and Mack Miller and 2 sisters, Nina Porter and Irene Phillips.
Joe is survived by 2 sons, Greg Miller and his wife Darla of Welch, OK and Stan Miller and his wife Jill of Joplin, MO, 1 daughter, Melissa Tromsness of Miami, OK, 2 grandchildren, Dawni Jo Orler and her husband Joshua and Corey Miller and his wife Patience and 5 great-grandchildren, Caleb Orler, Amia Jo Orler, Aurora Miller, Everlee Miller and Luca Miller.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, OK with Rev. Randy Frazier and Rex Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Williams' Timberhill Cemetery, east of Welch, OK with Greg Miller, Dawni Jo Orler, Corey Miller, Josh Orler, Jackie Miller and Connor MacKenzie serving as pallbearers.
