Kathie Browne

Kathie Jean Browne, age 76, of Monett, MO, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, MO.

Kathie was born on December 13, 1949, in Lamar, MO, the daughter of Robert J. and Leatha Lee (Brannan) Browne. She graduated from Lamar High School Class of 1967 and then furthered her education at SMS in Springfield, MO, earning her degree in Speech Therapy. Kathie taught at Stockton, Reeds Spring and Wheaton Schools throughout her career. She was devoted member of the First United Methodist Church, where she married her husband, Larry Brown, on February 18, 2022.








In her leisure time, Kathie found joy in working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles, displaying her sharp mind and engaging spirit. Her altruistic nature shone brightly as she generously volunteered at organizations such as Compassus, First United Methodist Church, and the Senior Center.

Kathie will forever be cherished by her husband, Larry; two step-sons, Shawn Brown and wife Rachelle and Jason Brown and wife Darcy; one step-daughter, Heather Breedlove and husband Justin; step-grandchildren, Deidre, Adelyn, Emerie, Jacob, Joshua, Josie, Jaxson, Nathan, Sean and Ethan; one brother, Steve Browne and wife Mary Ellen of Springfield, MO; one sister-in-law, Karla Browne of Carlisle, PA; four nieces and nephews, Andy Browne and wife Meli and daughter Mica, Conor Browne and wife Kaylie, Nora Goller and husband Holden, Kelly and daughters, Lily, Bea and Evie; and a host of extended family and friends.








While Kathie's physical presence is no longer with us, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She is reunited in eternal peace with her parents, one brother Scott Browne, one sister Julie Holland, and one niece Amber Holland. Kathie's legacy of kindness, compassion, and selflessness will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Memorial services for Kathie will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Brian Smith officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
