(From Clark Funeral Home)Patricia “Patty” Ann Jones was the eldest of four children born to Loyd and Wynona Eldina (Purbaugh) Vance. She was born on October 18, 1938, on the kitchen table of the family home in Granby, Missouri. That house was later turned into a barn, and she never lived down that she was in fact, born in a barn. Patty passed away at home, surrounded by her loved ones, on April 9, 2026, at the age of 87.
Patty’s family moved from Granby to Diamond when she was two years old. She grew up in Diamond and graduated from Diamond High School with the class of 1956. She and William “Willy” Jones were wed on October 4, 1957, in Neosho, Missouri. Together they shared 62 years of life and love before Willy’s passing on July 9, 2020.
For several years, Patty volunteered her time serving as the Secretary at Diamond Christian Church. Later, she took a job for the Neosho R-5 Public School District as the Secretary to the Elementary Education Director. Jeff and Tim were too afraid their teachers would go talk to their mom to cause too much trouble.
Patty was an active and dedicated member of Racine Christian Church. She considered the congregation of Racine, her second family. She was a quilting extraordinaire, and a member of the Soft Stitchers quilting group that met at Crowder. She loved the entire process from choosing the pattern, finding the perfect fabric, piecing it together, quilting the project, and finally gifting it to the perfect person. She never realized how talented she was and insisted on giving away her quilts instead of selling them.
Her family and friends will keep Patty’s memory alive for future generations with stories of fond times with her, and every time one of the quilts she carefully pieced together is used it will be a little reminder of her love.
Patty is survived by her two sons Jeff Jones (Donna Divine-Jones), and Tim Jones, both of Neosho, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willy, and all 3 of her siblings.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 6:30 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Hospice c/o Clark Funeral Home P.O. Box 66 Neosho, Missouri 64850.
