(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Richard Lee Miller, 91, of Carthage, MO, passed away on April 12, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Weaubleau, MO, on September 7, 1934, Richard graduated from Central High School in Springfield, MO and attended Southwest Missouri State University. He dedicated 43 years of service as a Chief Driver Examiner with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Pauline Miller, his beloved wife of 45 years, Reta, and a younger brother, Gary Miller.
He is survived by his children, Rick Miller (Elaine), Julia Atnip (Butch), and Jan Canfield (Steve). He had 7 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
Richard was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. He loved fishing, traveling, and sports. He will be remembered for his loyalty, unwavering integrity, and devotion to his family. While we deeply mourn his departure, we are comforted by the knowledge that he rests peacefully with Christ as His Savior and God as His Father.
A funeral service to honor Richard’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at First United Methodist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Carthage, immediately following the service. All who knew him are invited to join in celebrating a life that made a difference to so many.
Richard was an active member of Kiwanis Club of Carthage. Memorial donations can be made to Kiwanis Kiddie Land in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
