(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)Scotty Miles Hargis, 70, of Greenfield, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, following a brief illness.
He was born on August 15, 1955 to Buster and Patsy (Myers) Hargis. Scotty graduated from Greenfield High School in 1973. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Scotty spent time horseback riding and camping. He loved his family and his close relationship with his mom. Scotty had great pleasure in his role as grandpa.
He will be remembered by his ornery grin, sharp wit, and a soft heart. If Scotty was your friend, you couldn’t ask for a better one. He loved well, laughed often, and loved deeply.
Preceding him in death was his father, Buster Hargis; his brother, Tracy Hargis; his grandparents, Charley and Cora Myers, and Jim and Elizabeth Hargis; one niece, Shade CoraAnn White; one great-niece, Halle Marie Baker; and one grandson, Benjamin Walker Friend.
Survivors include his mother, Patsy Hargis of South Greenfield, MO; two sisters, Carmen Baker and her husband Rick of Greenfield, MO and Tassy White and her husband Jeff of Walnut Grove, MO; two daughters, Andrea Allen and Monica Bowles both of Lockwood, MO; five grandchildren, Meleeah, Eli, Seth Miles, Michael, and Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Paislee and Indy; six nephews, Colt, Trevor, Logan, Stormy Miles and wife Chelsey, Dalton, and Oakley; three nieces, Timber, Aspen, and Abby; special great-nephew, Bodhi; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Pennsboro Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to view and pay their respects on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Lung Cancer Research or to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
