Chanda Jones

Chanda Jones, age 69, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, on November 26, 2024. She was born on November 15, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, to Kenneth Gardner and Helen Maddox Gardner.

Chanda graduated from Mesquite High School in Mesquite, Texas, and went on to proudly serve her country as a Military Police officer in the United States Marine Corps. She later found fulfillment in her professional life through various roles, including employment at Lozier Corporation in Joplin, Missouri, and La-Z-Boy. Chanda also worked as a nurse aide in a nursing home, where her compassion touched many lives.

In December of 1988, she met the love of her life, Johnny Jones and they would spend the next 36 years as partners. They shared a beautiful partnership, and he survives her. Chanda was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who found great joy in gardening, cooking, crafting and shopping, and her presence brought warmth and kindness to everyone around her.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: her daughter Donna (Bobby) Mitchell of Granby, Missouri, and her son Kenneth and his companion, Mara Salinas, of Torres, Paraguay, and her grandchildren, Corrigan, Remi, Haze, Sunny and Max. Chanda will also be deeply missed by extended family members, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A family memorial will be held at a later date.

Dorothy Campbell

Dorothy Campbell, 92 of Springfield, Mo and formerly of Fairland, OK passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024. A woman of strength and unwavering devotion, she was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Born on July 15, 1932, in Ozark, MO she was the daughter of John M. Harp and Bertha L. Harp. Dorothy was the loving wife of the late Victor W. Campbell, a dedicated railroad worker. Together they shared a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to family. Her husband’s hard work on the railroad was matched by her own tireless efforts at home where she was known for creating a warm and welcoming environment for all who visited.

 

Dorothy was especially known for hosting family gatherings during the holidays, where her home was fill with the aromas of home-cooked meals and the sounds of joyful conversation. Whether it was Christmas, Thanksgiving, or any special occasion, her hospitality and generosity knew no bounds. Her table was always set with care, and her heart was always open to loved ones.

Dorothy attended the School of the Ozarks graduating high school in1949. She was a long-time member of First Babtist Church of Fairland, OK. Dorothy and Victor moved numerous times due to his employment with the railroad, making friends throughout the country. The last three years of her life she resided in Springfield, MO at Joy Assisted Living. In addition to her love for family, Dorothy loved to crochet and sew. She worked many years doing men’s alterations and also altering wedding dresses. Her resilience, compassion, ability to find joy in everyday moments were qualities that defined her and will be missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Linda Lynch, Sarcoxie, MO grandson Jordan Lee and great grandson Brayton Lee, her grandchildren, James Campbell, Claremore, OK his children, Faith, Benjamin and Andrew. Grandson Steven Campbell and wife Christine, Porter, OK and their children Asa, JJ, Asher and Joe. Granddaughter Jamie Campbell. Family Friend Teresa Campbell Watson and her husband Howard. Daughter in Law Lujean Campbell, Miami, OK her children Justin Campbell and wife Mandy of Grove, OK their daughter Sierra and husband Brec, Jared Campbell and wife Ashley their children, Jace, Jaylee, and Jaxton Campbell, Miami OK and Kelsey Adair and husband Jason of Miami, Ok. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor her sons James and Jerry Campbell, great grandson Jayten Campbell and her siblings John Harp and Deloris Kramer.

 

Her legacy of love hospitality will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.

Graveside services will be held on December 6, 2024, at 11:00 at the Dadeville MO Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made through Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie, MO for Joy Assisted Living Residents Christmas Gift fund. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri.

Cheryl Gill

Cheryl Ann Gill, 79, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas died December 2, 2024.

She was born November 8, 1945 in Joplin, Missouri to Harold William Kurth Moser and Anna Mae Powers Moser. She married Murphy Dean Gill June 7, 1963 in Neosho, Missouri at the Full Gospel Fellowship Church. She enjoyed doing word search books, diamond art, yardwork (flowerbeds). She loved her family and grandchildren very much. Cheryl loved the Lord and was a member of New Life Fellowship Church in Pea Ridge. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors are her husband of sixty-one years, Murphy Dean Gill; two sons, Kevin Gill and wife Kathy of Pineville, Mo., Kent Gill and wife Melisha of Tontitown, Ar.; sisters, Sondra Moser of Florida, Kaye Sterling of Union, Missouri; grandchildren, John, Jeremy, Stephanie, Judson, Sebastian and Anna; six great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends.

Visitation is set for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024 at Pea Ridge Cemetery.

Alan Briggs

Alan Thomas Briggs was born on August 4, 1952, in Neosho, Missouri, to John Anthony and Dena Mae (Green) Briggs. He entered into rest on December 1, 2024, in Neosho, Missouri, at the age of 72. 

Alan was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Neosho High School, class of 1970. Following high school, he continued his education at the University of Arkansas, graduating in 1975, with a degree in business administration. 

He was the third-generation owner of Briggs Insurance Agency until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Neosho. Alan was a former member and president of the Neosho Rotary Club, a past president of the Southwest Missouri Independent Insurance Agents Association, a member of the Men’s Golf Association, a member of the Neosho Flower Box Committee, a former deacon of the First Christian Church, and an avid supporter of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. The happiest moments of his life were at home, surrounded by his family and the ones he loved most.

On September 7, 1974, Alan and Rebecca (Becky) Probert were united in marriage in Golden City, Missouri. Becky survives. 

In addition to his wife of fifty years, he is survived by three children: Sarah Thomas and husband, Kevin, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; John Thomas Briggs and wife Sheenah of Joplin; and Alan Kenneth “Kenney” Briggs and wife, Chelsa, of Fairview, Missouri; six grandchildren: Aidan and Kylie Thomas, Masyn and Parker Briggs, and Rhyder Dumas and Sayler Briggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, John Stephen Briggs.

A celebration of Alan’s life will be held at the First Christian Church, Neosho, Missouri, on Saturday, December 7th, 2024, at 10 am followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Alan may be made to the First Christian Church, Neosho, Missouri.

 

Pat Wall

Patricia (Pat) K. Wall went to be with the lord on November 30, 2024. She was born on August 8, 1939 to Glenn and Kathryn Auman in Columbus Kansas. 

Pat was united in marriage to Claude Wall on July 28, 1957. She and Claude owned a grocery store in Carthage Missouri for several years prior to working at Carthage Hardware for 35 years and was a member of Sweet Adelines for over 30 years her joy for singing continued with the Keenagers for an additional 12 years. She was a member of the Spring River Assembly of God Church in Riverton Kansas.







Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her children, Tammy (Robert) Bullis of Diamond, MO, Darin (Shelly) Wall of Riverton, KS. She was the beloved grandmother to five grandchildren Rori Bullis of Tyler, TX, Sheena (Tyler) Shallenburger of Riverton KS, Robin (Jason) Little of Diamond MO, Kelsey (Drew) Moreno of Joplin MO, and Nolan (Cassie) Wall of Girard KS. Pat was known to her seven great-grandchildren as GG which was her favorite title, Hyley Lucas, Elise Moreno, Jay Little, Hadleigh Wall, Elias Moreno, Bowen Wall, Jackson Little.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday December 3, 2024 at Derfelt Funeral Home in Columbus Kansas with graveside service to follow at the Columbus Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Nick Rainey, Matt Fryer, Mark Heman, Donnie Heman, Cole Hance, Galen Auman. Richard Belcher

Richard L. Belcher, of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Friday, November 29, 2024, in the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility at the age of 84.

He was born on June 30, 1940 in Greenfield, MO to Homer and Ruby (Ruddick) Belcher. Richard graduated from Lockwood High School. He was united in marriage to Doris Aileen Moenning on September 15, 1962 in Lockwood, MO. Richard owned and operated Belcher Trucking for many years. He was a member of the Lockwood United Methodist Church. Richard loved listening to music, and enjoyed attending Bluegrass Music Festivals.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Homer and Ruby (Ruddick) Belcher; and his wife, Doris Belcher;

Survivors include his children, Elizabeth Easson and husband Edward, Randy Belcher and wife Ruth, Junior Moenning and wife Alisha, David Moenning and wife Becky, and Bobby Berlekamp and wife Angela; his brother, David Belcher and wife Barbara; two sisters-in-law, Betty Moenning and Debbie Moenning; his grandchildren, Kate and Kyle Rowan, Garrett Easson and fiancé Veronica, Wyatt and Kenzie Easson, Brady and Lachelle Spain, Taylor Belcher, Brookee and Bo Dolan, Tim and Jessica Cottingham, Melissa and Josh Maxwell, Katie and Andrew Splechter, Aaron Moenning, Payton Moenning, Jaden Moenning, Rajen and Joanne Moenning, and Nevada and Tavin Shriver; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in the Lockwood United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in Lockwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lockwood United Methodist Church or to a local humane society. Services are under the care of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.

Jeannie Sturgeon

Jeannie Dale Sturgeon, 67, passed away on November 29, 2024.

Born on September 5, 1957, Jeannie was a devoted wife, homemaker, and animal lover, particularly known for her affection for her beloved cats.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Sturgeon, and her brothers, Jim Lindenfelser of Minnesota and Bob Lindenfelser of Oklahoma. Jeannie was preceded in death by her first husband, Terry Hatfield, and her parents.

Jeannie’s gentle spirit and love for her family and furry companions will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
