Pat Hughes

Mrs. Patricia Louise “Pat” Hughes, 72, of Carl Junction, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, September 7, 2019, in the comfort of her home after a recent decline in health.

Pat entered this life on March 25, 1947, in Joplin, Missouri, born to the union of the late Loyd and Mabel (Ulmer) Larson. She attended the Waco School and was a 1965 graduate of Carl Junction High. She was employed by Southwestern Bell / AT&T for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1993. After retiring she made the decision to go back to school, graduating from Franklin Tech Medical Assisting Program. She worked at both Freeman and St. John’s Hospitals before becoming an instructor at WTI, retiring a second time in 2010. She enjoyed garage sales and was an avid gardener. Pat was a member of the Central Christian Center in Joplin.

She was a preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Kevin and Keenan Klein; and a sister, Phyllis Larson Carroll.

On August 25, 1988, she was united in marriage to John Hughes and together they have shared the last thirty-one years, he survives of the home.








Additional survivors include a daughter, Jeanie Deremo and husband, Randy, of Joplin; three grandchildren, Zachery Williams, Robert Ray Black and Lauren Hegedorn; a brother, Paul Larson and wife, Phillis, of Carthage, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parker Mortuary with Pastors Hank Deslatte and Paul Bayless officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Oronogo, Missouri. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Zachery Williams, Melvin Bowman, II, Melvin Bowman, III, Michael Bowman, Greg Ulmer, Robert Ray Black and Mark Snow.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Memorials are being directed to Central Christian Center c/o the mortuary. 

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
