Jerry Joseph Walters, 77, Carthage, MO passed away Sept. 9, 2019. He was born June 17, 1942 in Riga Township, MI to Joseph A. and Thelma Ida (Griewhan) Walters.
He worked for Duke Energy, retiring in Nov. 1997, and moving to Neosho in 2005; he later worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline, and upon retirement from there in 2018, moved to Carthage. Jerry was a member of the Neosho United Methodist Church. He loved to golf and to spend time with his family.
Jerry and Katherine S. Jenkins were married on Aug. 10, 1963 in Kansas City, MO; she survives.
He is also survived by two children, Mark Walters and wife, Michele of Lee’s Summit, MO and Karen Fitzsimmons and husband, Dan of Carthage; one brother, Wesley Walters and wife, Carole of Ohio; two sisters, Lila Neuman of Blissfield, MI and Debbie Miller of Ypsilanti, MI; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 10 am at Neosho United Methodist Church, Neosho, with Pastor Mitch Jarvis officiating.
