Ronald Dean 'Ron' Leek, age 77, Joplin, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at a local nursing center after a long illness.
Ron was born February 10, 1942 in Joplin to the late George Emerson Leek and Lucille Miller Leek.
Ron was raised in Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School. Following graduation, he attended Moller Beauty College and worked as a hairstylist at a popular downtown location on Main Street.
Ron was also employed for several years a Precious Moments, where he met many people and made many friends. He owned and operated Ron's Ramblin Rose Floral Shop in Duquesne Village for several years and then moved to Monett, where he operated Kay's Floral Affairs and Gardens, retiring in 2017.
Ron was a member of First Community Church in Joplin. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
He married Linda Lucille Hutchison on June 29, 1981 in Houston, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 19, 1994.
Services are planned for Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
