Ron Nichols

Mr. Ronald Dale Nichols, 60, of Diamond, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Communities of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin, Missouri.

Ron entered this life on May 31, 1959 in Joplin, Missouri, to the union of the late Robert and Julia (Inez)) Nichols. He was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School. After graduation he joined the Army National Guard and then enlisted in the United States Navy as a Gunners Mate, proudly serving from 1977 to 1991. During this time he was stationed in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He then served as a police officer in South Carolina then continued in that career in his hometown, Sarcoxie. Then he changed career paths obtained his CDL to become an over the road truck driver for over 25 years.

On September 18, 1999 he was united in marriage to Michelle Leonardi. Ron attended Crowder College and received certification in Waste Water and Water Treatment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the gun range, re-loading and making leather goods. Ron loved to talk for hours about guns which he did to the near end. He enjoyed repairing them as well. He loved his family and friends dearly; always ready to help when needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Joyce Smith and nephew, Orin Nichols.








Ron is survived by his wife, Michelle, of the home; children, Justin Nichols (Angie) of Riverton, Kansas, Amy Davis (Zachary) of Godfrey, Illinois, Emily Nichols, of Saint Louis, and Amanda Gainuss, of Joplin; grandchildren; Abby, Brandon, Brenden, Terrynce, Mekia, Jewel, Jack, Corbin and Ezekiel; siblings, Don Nichols (Dee) of Sarcoxie, Shelley LaTurner (Thom) of Scammon, Kansas and Theresa Youngblood of Sarcoxie; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services with full military honors for Ron are 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2019 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, with pastor Robert Mattingly officiating. Interment will follow in VanBuren Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8:00 pm at the funeral home. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Chet Nichols, Justin Stanberry, Matthew Stanberry, David Stanberry, Zachary Davis, Dalton LaTurner, Kyle Youngblood and Wayne Youngblood. Honorary pallbearers will be David Nichols and Kerry Stanberry. The family has directed memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
