Frank Henry Filarski, 92, of Sarcoxie, Missouri departed this life Friday, June 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Frank entered this life on April 20, 1925 in Sarcoxie, Missouri to the union of the late Barney and Geniveve (Shrader) Filarski. He attended Sarcoxie schools and later enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served during World War II. During his time of service he received several commendations, World War II Victory Ribbon, Eame Ribbon with 2 bronze SV stars, Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart. On May 23, 1953 he was united in marriage to Gladys Szydloski in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, sharing sixty-four years together.
Frank was a retired employee of Atlas Powder of Joplin, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion post #70.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Filarski, Fred Filarski, Tony Filarski, Tom Filarski, Raymond Filarski, Ed Filarski, Joe Filarski and Bill Filarski; sisters, Julia Hill, Helen McQuitty and Rose Hill.
Frank is survived by his wife, Gladys; and one brother, Clem Filarski of Carthage, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Filarski are 10:00 Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri with Pastor Don Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Sarcoxie Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Dave Lawyer, Mike Chandler, Terry White, Larry Velten, Shane Pennington and Larry Gasser. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. The family has directed memorial contributions be made to the Sarcoxie Nursing Center, and may be left at the funeral home.
