Mrs. Twila Nadine Martin, 94, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, June 9, 2017, at the Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Missouri.
Twila entered this life on June 23, 1922, in Anderson, Missouri, daughter of the late Oda Harry and Ellen Edith (Glazier) Taylor. She was a lifelong area resident and a 1940 graduate of Anderson High School. On April 14, 1941, she was united in marriage to James Nathan Martin and to this union four children were born. Besides being a devoted homemaker, Twila worked for several years at Hudson Foods in Noel, Missouri, retiring in 1985. She was wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners for her family. She opened her home to all and never knew a stranger. Twila's passion in life was quilting. Every quilt she made was from the heart with an abundance of warmth and love. She was also a longtime faithful member of Moss Church where she enjoyed fellowship and song with her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty years, James Martin on September 18, 2001; a great grandson, Paco Gonzalez; two sisters, Lila Hatfield and Darlene “Dinky” Bryant; and a brother, Don Taylor.
Twila is survived by her four children, Jamie Martin and wife, Darla, of Anderson, Jackie Barton and husband, David, of Southwest City, Jeff Martin and wife, Glinda, of Anderson and Joyce Law also of Anderson; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; a sister, Joy Bullis of Anderson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and foster children.
Funeral services for Twila are 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Bob Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Chris Hatfield, Rick Hatfield, Billy Martin, Larry Marsh, Ron Bullis and Larry Taylor. Randy Land and Donnie Hatfield will be serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
