Joyce Ann Burkybile of Galena KS entered into rest on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
Joyce Ann Beckner was born August 23, 1943 in Neosho, MO to the union of Sandford Nelson and Velma Elnora (Smith) Beckner.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Sarah (Tyler) Burkybile, and Eric Durbin, and sister-in-law Sheila Beckner.
Joyce married the love of her life, Phil Dean Burkybile Sr, August 12, 1959 in Hockerville, Oklahoma. He survives. Born to this union was three awesome children, Terri Louise and Mike Durbin, Galena, KS, Phil Dean and Teresa Burkybile, Seneca, MO, and Jerri Lynn and Bill Garrison, Quapaw, OK.
Joyce was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Melissa (Garrison) and David Patton, Damon and Christy Burkybile, Jennifer Durbin, Michelle (Garrison) and Shawn Trent, Travis Burkybile, Chad and Sarah Cole, Brad and Amanda Cole, Joshua and Casey Garrison, Jason Garrison and fiance’ Lucy Kingsley, Tara McQuillan, and Tiffany Scott.
Joyce was blessed with 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her maternal Aunt, Vond Burch, Fayetteville, AR; two brothers, James Randall Beckner and William Allen (Candace) Beckner of Carthage, MO.
Joyce retired from Eagle-Picher/Umicore E. O. M. Plant, Quapaw, OK after 35 years. She served two terms on the Galena KS City Council where she served on the Housing Board. She served as Past-President of the Galena Girls Softball Assn.
Joyce was an avid bowler in her younger years until she discovered BINGO.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Jeff D Martin will officiate. Burial will be at the Ottawa Indian Cemetery, rural Miami, OK.
