Robert Lee “Bob” Frank, 96, of Pittsburg, passed away at 2:20 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Via Christi Hospital.
Bob was born March 6, 1921 at Pittsburg, to Elmer and Rose (Schallo) Frank. He attended schools in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1940. He was married June 20, 1942 to Eileen Johnson of West Mineral, Kansas. He was employed as a patternmaker for McNally-Pittsburg Manufacturing Corp. for 22 years, then was co-owner of Red Ball Pattern Shop for 22 years, retiring in 1984. Bob served 38 months in the Navy during WWII, from August 1942 to October 1945, serving 28 months in Pearl Harbor on the submarine base. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church.
On September 2010, he married Greta McClendon of Pittsburg. She survives at the home. Additional survivors include two daughters, Jean Ann Pepin and her husband, Gary of Lincoln, Nebraska and Sherri Ortolani and her husband, Al of Lenexa, Kansas; one step-daughter, Lisa Butts and her husband, Ron of Liberal, Missouri; five grandchildren, 2 step-granddaughters, 2 step-grandsons, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen, his parents, and three brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 14) at the Highland Park Cemetery with Rev. Mark Chambers officiating. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brenner Mortuary to sign the register. The family suggests memorials be given to the Wesley House. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
