Melba Jean Southern Shadwick, 78, formerly of Stella, MO entered into rest on December 26, 2017 in Kimberling City, MO.
She was born Dec. 4, 1939 in Sarcoxie, MO to Glendean and Rosie Pearl (Slavens) Southern. Melba was a lifelong area resident and had been employed as a dietician at Triway School in Stella. She was a member of Stella Baptist Church.
Melba married Jack Shadwick on September 30, 1956 in Miami, OK; he survives. Additional survivors include two sons: Randy Shadwick and wife, Rose, of Lampe, MO and Chuck Shadwick and wife, Star, of Purdon, TX; two brothers: Malloy Southern and Melvin Southern, both of Neosho, MO; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Melba was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Myrna.
Services will be 1:00 pm, Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, with Pastor Jerry Yarnell officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Neosho. Family and friends may call at the funeral 9:00 – 5:00 on Thursday. Contributions in Melba’s honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to MO Baptist Children’s Home, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
