Sara Ellen Summitt, 94, formerly of Granby, MO passed away December 26, 2017.
She was born March 3, 1923 in Kingman County, KS to Frank Alfonzo and Anna Louisa (Ellison) Robinson.
On May 31, 1942, Sara married Glen L. Summitt in Kingman, KS; he preceded her in death on November 9, 2000. Sara was a homemaker and co-owner of Summitt Building. She was a member of Newtonia Baptist Church, where she served as church librarian and women’s mission secretary for many years. Sara enjoyed crocheting, gardening, sewing, and being with her family. Surviving family members include her children: Richard D. Summitt of Neosho, MO, Earl C. Summitt of AR, and Linda M. Percy of Carl Junction, MO; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, eleven siblings, and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Granby Chapel of Memories, with Rev. Doug Gripka officiating. Interment will follow at Newtonia IOOF Cemetery, Newtonia, MO. The family will receive friends prior to the services, beginning at 1:00.
