Barbara Lacey

Barbara Ann (Bobbi) Lacey was born December 29, 1937 at Stella, Missouri to Harlin Sanford Smith and Eva (Hawkins) Smith. She passed away on December 20, 2017 at Roaring River Rehab in Cassville, Missouri.

She graduated from Rocky Comfort High School in Rocky Comfort, Missouri with the class of 1954. On January 29, 1955 she was united in marriage to Melvin Lacey. In 1962 they moved to Exeter, Missouri to make their home. She was a member of the Cassville United Methodist Church; and served a term as president of the local UMW.

Barbara worked several clerical jobs throughout the region. Notable amongst them were her times at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, Barry County Circuit Clerk’s office, the United States Census Bureau, and Roaring River State Park.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Melvin, of the home, Exeter, Missouri; two sons: Randy and his wife Brenda of Springfield, Missouri, Brad and his wife, Lucy of Salisbury, Massachusetts; two daughters: Joann of Cassville and Beth and Ryan of Decatur, Georgia. She was grandmother to three grandchildren: Kevin and his wife, Jessica with their children, Mackenzie, Macy, and Brody of Carthage, Missouri; Amanda and her husband, Keith of St. Peters, Missouri; and Vaughn of Salisbury, Massachusetts. She is survived by her sisters, Betty Laney and her husband Jerry and Marcia Sue Beagle and Dan, and one uncle: Donnie Smith and his wife Donna; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and great-great niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both her parents and parents-in-law and her brother, Loren Smith.

Visitation for Barbara is being held on December 30th from 1 – 2 pm at Cassville United Methodist Church. Funeral services are being held on December 30th at 2 pm at the church under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Reverend Don Beeson will conduct the services. Burial will follow services at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, Missouri.
