Clarissa Elaine (Yount) Slaten, of Ozark, departed this life on Saturday, December 23, 2017, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO at the age of 44 years.
She was born on March 3, 1973 in Springfield, MO to Calvin and Betty (Sweaney) Yount. Clarissa graduated from Greenfield High School in 1991. She received her Bachelor degrees in Wildlife Management and Elementary Education from Missouri State University. Clarissa was united in marriage to Scott Slaten on November 2, 2001 in Springfield, MO. She was a Fourth Grade Teacher at Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary School in Springfield. Clarissa was a member of the Hopedale Baptist Church in Ozark.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Slaten of the home; her parents, Calvin and Betty Yount of Greenfield, MO; one brother, T.J. Yount of Greenfield, MO; one sister, Chandra Russell and husband Brent of Olathe, KS; her grandmother, Leora Sweaney of Greenfield, MO; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Lucy Slaten of Charleston, MO; one brother-in-law, Joe Slaten and wife Andrea; one sister-in-law, Laura Odom and husband David; and her nieces and nephews, Hailey and Kendall Russell, Emily and Katie Yount, Spencer, Carter, Cooper, and Tyler Slaten, and Jonathan, Abby, Blake, and Sarah Odom.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017, in Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Collins Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
