Andrew Michael Rogers, “Drew” to those who loved him, was born on Thanksgiving day, November 26, 1987, at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. He passed from this world on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, after a long and brutal fight with addiction.
As a kid, Drew attended school in Carl Junction, Missouri, Aurora, Illinois, and graduated in 2006 from Webb City High School, where he loved playing Cardinal football. Classmates will remember Drew as a cut-up – a kind, sweet and ridiculously funny guy. He could make his voice do all these crazy noises without moving his lips, a talent that won him a trip to the office more times than we can count.
Drew grew up with his sisters, Amanda Woolfolk and Alicia Rogers, and cousins, Brittany Kennedy, Shelby Noirfalise, Cody Hawks and Chandler Hawks, and virtual cousin, Erin Simonds. We could write a book about the things these kids thought of to do during summer breaks when they were together constantly. The highlights would be camping in the back yard, where they stayed the whole night outside, mostly because Drew and his friends would sneak around and terrorize the girls in an effort to highjack whatever candy they had. We spent summers camping, fishing, and canoeing, all things he enjoyed and would return to throughout his life. He was a great kid, one who was an honor and privilege to raise.
Drew spent the past four and a half years as a Sales Representative at 4 State Trucks, a job that he absolutely loved. He won sales awards and one year, he raised over $450 for the Special Olympics, an achievement he was very proud of.
There were few things that Drew loved more than playing with his beloved dog, Jax, and spending a day on the river someplace in his kayak, watching his Chiefs play or hitting the gym.
Drew will be remembered as a kind guy with a big heart who wore his emotions on his sleeve, a guy who could speak fluently in movie quotes, and a guy with a quick wit that was wickedly funny.
Drew is survived by his parents, Michele deLisser of Webb City, Andy Rogers of Carl Junction, and his loving bonus dad, Brayon deLisser, of Webb City; his sisters, Amanda Woolfolk of Oceanside, California, and Alicia Rogers of Joplin; and he also leaves behind his beautiful daughter and handsome son. He will be missed by his aunts, Tina Kennedy of Carl Junction and Marsha Welch of Webb City; uncle, Mike Welch, of Dallas, Texas; and grandparents, Christine and Greg Edmund and Sharon Welch, all of Webb City.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa, George Welch, in Heaven.
If you are reading this, you knew and loved Drew and his heart would tell you right now that if you are dealing with the demon of addiction, seek help now. People love you and people need you. People will miss you. Please don’t end up being just another sad Facebook post, just another obituary notice.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019, in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.
God bless your family
