Kay Richardson

Kay A. Richardson, age 81, Carl Junction, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at a local nursing center.

Kay was born June 3, 1938 in Joplin, daughter of the late Rudy and Iva Fay Thompson. She graduated from Joplin High School, and married Lawrence Richardson on September 14, 1956. She has been a lifelong resident of this area, and worked for over 20 years with Tupperware where she retired as a Tupperware Manager.

After retiring, she operated the Apple House, the family business on their property selling apples and packaged beef. She was also an active member of Byers Avenue United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and performed with her family in the annual Fall Fiasco Dinner Theatre. She loved music, weather playing the piano or organ for her girls, or singing with her girls.

In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by granddaughter, Kara Richardson, and a son-in-law, Russell Beck.








Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Lawrence Richardson; children, Debbie Beck, Kathy Cowley and husband Rick, Carol Hatfield and husband Ronnie, David Richardson and wife Jeanne all of Carl Junction; 10 grandchildren, Travis Beck (Jamie), Tyler Beck, Taylor Beck (Stetson), Savannah Allen (Bryce), Trent Cowley, Andrew Jiles (Kayli), Ethan Hatfield (Krystina), Lucas Hatfield, Klayton Richardson (Michaela), and Rebecca Beck; 11 great-grandchildren, Grace, Owen, Miles, Connor, Elise, Brady, Briggs, Bentley, Brooklynn, Braxtyn, and Kinsley.

Funeral service will be Monday, November 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Byers Avenue United Methodist Church with Pastor Chuck Kralik officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Byers Avenue United Methodist Church.
