Richard Green

Richard James Green, Sr., age 75, Joplin, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital after a short illness.

Richard was born January 10, 1944 in San Diego, California to the late Harry B. Green and Mary Borgstrom Green and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.

Richard worked for the parks and recreation department at the City of Joplin for 28 years, retiring in 1995. He then managed Joplin Granite for twenty years, retiring in 2014.








In his spare time, Richard tinkered with cars and trucks. He served in both the United States Air Force and the United States Navy. Richard had a grand sense of humor and always had a story to tell. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jazobczak Green on July 19, 2014.

Survivors include two sons, Eric Green, Joplin, Richard Green, Jr., Springfield; siblings, Harry B. Green, Buffalo, New York, Tom Green, Wilmington, North Carolina, Patty Green, Webb City, Kathy Whitehead, Phoenix, Arizona; and grandson, Michael Green, Springfield.

Private services are planned for a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
