Pearl Lucille “Lucy” Chasteen was born to Roy Kelso Chasteen and Rachel Dorcus Tiner Chasteen on February 1, 1932 in Lafe, Arkansas. She attended the public schools in Freistatt, MO, graduating from Pierce City High School in 1950 and attended Everett Business College to study accounting.

From an early age Lucy professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Hermitage, MO. She was a dedicated and active member of this church until she moved to Tahlequah in 2017. She then transferred her membership to First Baptist Church in Tahlequah where she attended services and was a devoted member to the Dorcas Sunday School class where she had many friends.

Lucy was fond of talking about all the jobs she had in her life. She worked in a shoe factory, she picked cotton and worked in the fields, but she began working at Westinghouse (later Philips) in 1966 and retired from there in 1998. After retirement Lucy spent time doing volunteer work, visiting with those in Nursing Homes, and was active in her community. She enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center. She loved dancing, bowling, crocheting, and reading. She loved playing games and watching game shows.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her family and friends. After living a full and blessed life on earth she departed this world on Saturday, November 9, 2019 in the early morning hours in Tahlequah, OK, her daughter Evelyn and grandson Jason by her side.

She is survived by her two children, a son Everett Wayne Hoover and his wife, Verna of Pierce City, MO, and a daughter Evelyn Marie Pinnick and her husband Wade of Tahlequah, OK. She had four grandchildren, Joe Woods of Neosho, MO, Jason Pinnick of Tahlequah, OK, Wade Pinnick Jr of Salina, KS and Chelsea Hoover of Mt. Vernon, MO. She is survived by one brother, Claude Chasteen and his wife Judy of Pleasant Hope, MO and a sister, Pauline Swinney of Cassville, MO.

She was loved by her 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grands and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, as well as friends and church family.

She was preceded to heaven by her parents, as well as one brother, Paul Chasteen and two sisters Fran Houck and Betty Woods.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet Boucher Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
