Opal Faye Campbell, 79, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin. Opal was born August 5, 1940 in Carthage to Carl W. and Agnes M. “Simpson” Brooks. She was a lifetime resident of Carthage, a member of Grace Episcopal Church and employed by Leggett & Platt’s Payroll Department from 1974 to 1994.
Opal was also the District Deputy Grand Matron and Past Matron of Eastern Star, Eminence Chapter 93 of Carthage.
Opal was united in marriage to David "Fred" Campbell on Mach 1, 1959 at Craig Airforce Base in Selma, Alabama; he preceded her in death on September 9, 2014.

Opal is survived by two sons, David Campbell (Starla) of Weddington, NC and Derik Campbell (Melinda) of Joplin; one brother, Lew Brooks of Carthage; five grandchildren, Kelsey Charles (Christopher), Greyson, Trevor, Clara and Madeline Campbell; two great grandchildren, Aubrey and Maverik Charles.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2019 at Grace Episcopal Church in Carthage. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Carthage.
Contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or the Carthage Masonic Lodge or the Missouri Veterans’ Home in Mt. Vernon in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
