Jim Gaddey

James M. 'Jim' Gaddey, age 94, Joplin, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at his home after an illness.

Jim was born June 25, 1925 in Lucas Township, Illinois to the late James H. Gaddey and Nora O. Brant Gaddey and had lived in Joplin most of his life.

A carpenter by trade, Jim worked in the construction industry for many years. He was a faithful member of Park Plaza Christian Church. Jim was especially proud of his military service. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II on the USS Callahan. He was awarded several medals and citations, including the Victory Ribbon, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Good Conduct Medal.








He married Gladys Leturno on January 19, 1947 in Illinois. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include his son, James L. Gaddey and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are planned for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. B.A. Austin, minister, will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
