Jim Simmons

James Joseph “Jim” Simmons, 74, of Seneca, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019.

Jim was born on October 11, 1945, in Faribault, Minnesota, to the union of the late Aloysius and Elizabeth (Weber) Simmons. He graduated in 1963 from Bethlehem Academy in Faribault. Following high school, Jim served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired as a police officer after protecting his community in Fairbault for 30 years. Jim loved fishing, shooting, playing pool, and spending time with his friends and family.

On February 14, 2018, Jim was united in marriage to Ramona Edwards in Miami, Oklahoma, and she survives.








Jim is also survived by his children, Becky Fort (David) of Schulerville, South Carolina, Todd Simmons of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Kim Wetson (Garrett) of Owatonna, Minnesota; step-son, Jason Johnson (Jill), of Monterey, California; sister, Betty Simmons, of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Candy Blazar, of Carl Junction, Missouri; brothers-in-law, James Edwards (Michelle) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Chris Edwards (Ronda) of Portland, Tennessee, and Leroy Wright (Christine) of Greenville, Indiana; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Jim’s wishes were to be cremated and services will be announced and held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.

  1. Barb and I became friends with Jim through when I sold him his house here on Gum Rd. Jim and I shared a love of shooting, toy trains and service. We traveled to Minnesota for his retirement ceremony and remained friends for the following years. I wish I had stayed in closer touch. I do know that Ramona was exceptionally good for him.
