Barbara Medler

Barbara Lee Medler, a selfless, faith-filled, and passionate woman, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on October 4, 2023, in Joplin, Missouri. Born on August 21, 1929, in Columbus, Kansas, Barbara lived a life filled with love, service, and a deep commitment to her faith and community.

Barbara was educated in Civil Defense, a reflection of her selfless demeanor and desire to serve. Her professional journey led her to a fulfilling 35-year career with the U.S. Army in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, where she was instrumental in budgeting. Her expertise and dedication were well recognized and deeply appreciated by her colleagues and superiors.








She was a woman of many interests, all of which reflected her zest for life and her passion for connection. Barbara was an avid player of golf and bridge, games that allowed her to form many cherished friendships over the years. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in her hometown of Columbus, Kansas. She also found fellowship and purpose in her involvement with the Order of Eastern Star.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Ginger Stephens and husband, Maurice of Houston, Texas. She was a beloved aunt to her niece, Beth Gundy, also of Houston, and a cherished great-aunt to Griffin Gundy.

Those who knew Barbara will remember her as a woman of unwavering faith, a passionate community member, and a selfless individual who always put others before herself. Her life was a testament to her values, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and deep commitment to her community and country.








In her 94 years of life, Barbara Lee Medler lived fully and loved deeply. Her journey on this earth was a testament to her selfless nature, her unwavering faith, and her passionate spirit. We celebrate her life and the indelible imprint she has left on the hearts of all who knew her.

Service to be announced at a later date and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
