(From Simpson Funeral Home)Bobby Frank Worley of Joplin, Missouri died on October 26, 2023. He was born April 10, 1936 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to the late R.M. and Laura Worley.
Bob was also preceded in death by his brother, Ted Worley. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Judith Ann Worley and daughters, Dee Ann (Steven) Gray of Nicholasville, Kentucky; Debra (Bruce) Salsman of Webb City, Missouri, Delyn (David) Culbertson of Joplin, Missouri and by his son, David Worley of Denver, Colorado.
Bob is survived by six grandchildren, Jonathan (Mary) Gray of Wayland, Michigan; Chirstopher (Jess) Gray of Columbus, Ohio; Emily (Billy) Bryington of Danville, Kentucky; Josh Newlon of Springfield, Missouri; Tyler (Whitney) Newlon of Deer Trail, Colorado and Brooke Salsman of Chicago Illinois, as well as his sister-in-law, Sue York of Carterville, Missouri; and his great-grandsons, Saelac Newlon of Joplin, Missouri and David Gray of Wayland, Michigan and a host of friends and fellow servants of the Lord who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Bob had a humble upbringing in Oklahoma City. He showed his industrious nature by delivering papers as an eleven year old and also selling concessions at the Stockyards Coliseum. He showed his athletic ability early by excelling on a Capital Hill baseball team. He also loved hiking, tennis, snow skiing and above all, golf. Bob's father first introduced him to golf as a boy, leading to an eighty year adventure that included many trophies and two holes-in-one. As a high school student excelled in music and athletics lettering in both track and golf. Bob was also an elder in the Chickasaw Nation, and was a direct descendent of Mary Spain.
Bob was a lifelong servant of the Lord. From the time he was little, he attended the Nazarene Church with his mother and was baptized at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in 1953. He soon felt the call to ministry leading Bob to Oklahoma Baptist University where he graduated in 1958. Bob also graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master in Divinity.

He served in pastoral roles in Oklahoma, Illinois and Colorado. Bob served the Colorado Baptist Convention before spending his final 12 years as a North American Mission Board church planter and director of missions for Southwest Colorado. After retirement he served as an interim pastor and as a much loved Bible Teacher at Forest Park Baptist Church, Joplin.
Above all Bob was a friend, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a kind, gentle soul, yet still a man of great strength of character. He blessed countless lives through his great sense of humor, words of wisdom and generous spirit. He will always be loved and missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life for Bob Worley will take place at 10:30am on Saturday, October 28th in the chapel at Forest Park Baptist Church, 725 S. Highview Ave in Joplin, with Pastor Steve Gray and Pastor John Swadley, officiating. Friends and family are invited to attend the service with an informal visitation after the service.
