Debbie Helms

Debra J. “Debbie” Helms, age 74 of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Joplin Gardens Nursing Center following an extended illness. She was born September 15, 1949 to the late Cecil and Friankie (Wiber) Dodson. Debbie worked as a Cafeteria Aide for the Joplin R-VIII School District for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Carin Cherry (Bob); step children, Darrin Helms (Leslie) and Karen Lynn Erdmann (Chris); multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, Marilyn Grove (Barry) and Patty Baker (Don): many extended family and friends.

Other than her parents, Debbie is preceded in death by her husband, Max Helms who passed in June of 2023.

No services are planned at this time, cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
