Terry Word, aged 68, of Joplin, Missouri, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 7, 1954, she was the beloved daughter of General JR. and Betty Jo (Hunt) Seigal.

Terry was a force to be reckoned with in her professional life, leading teams with grace and dedication as a General Manager for McDonald’s restaurants. Beyond her career, she was a woman of varied passions. Her love for cooking was evident in the wonderful meals she made for her family. In her younger days, art and drawing were a special passion of hers.

Among the treasured moments in her life were those spent conversing, playing gin rummy, and watching Jeopardy with her lifelong partner, Dave Word, who preceded her in passing. Their countless games and shared laughter became endearing memories of their time together.

Above all, Terry’s heart was deeply rooted in family. The love she held for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was unwavering and profound. Alongside Dave, their journey was a testament to love and shared experiences.

Joining her parents, her partner, Dave Word, and daughter, Jennifer Estes, in eternity, Terry’s warmth and love continue to resonate through her children, Derek Word, Melissa Slimp, Tiffany Estes, Michelle Estes, and Dillon Word. She is also remembered by her siblings Steven Estes, Mark Evans, Tina Evans, and Mark Varnell. A proud matriarch, she was blessed with 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren who will carry forward her lessons of love, resilience, and family bonds.

A service to honor and remember Terry’s beautiful life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin, Missouri. All are welcome to join and share memories of a woman whose light shone brightly, touching all who knew her.
