Joan Hicks

Joan Hicks was born August 31, 1934 passed October 22, 2023. She was 89 years young and lived life exactly as she wanted.

When she lived in Joplin, she mowed properties she owned in Joplin, El Dorado Springs and Nevada, Mo and if she passed a yard in Joplin with her mower in tow and it looked like the people weren't going to mow it or couldn’t, she would mow it for them. She would be seen walking from the northwest side of Joplin to the southwest side picking up trash and aluminum cans to help keep Joplin beautiful.

 

Joan was born in Willard, Mo and lived in Springfield, Sparta and Kansas City Missouri then Wakeeney, Kansas back to Nevada and Joplin and finally Chadwick Mo.

She was preceded in death by grandparents and parents Arthur and Pearl Roush, brothers Jimmy, Billy and Eugene “Chief” Roush and middle son Jerry Wayne Prier

Other sons are; Arthur Prier and Camie Prier, son Quinten and Janyce Prier

Chris Boatwright and fiancé Amy Foster, son Ben and wife Annie Boatwright and soon to be Theo Miller Boatwright and Daughter Bethany Boatwright.

 

In lieu of flowers or cards the family would love donations sent to Jacobs Ladder in Springfield, Mo. in honor of the amazing care and compassion she received in her final days.

There will be a graveside very informal gathering at the Clintonville Cemetery in El Dorado Springs, MO on Saturday October 28 at 2pm.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
