Helen Gardner

Helen Frances Gardner, age 91, of Lamar, Missouri passed away October 12, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.

Helen was born October 10, 1932, in Fair Play, Missouri to William Lester Butler and Ethel Elizabeth (Jeffries) Butler. 

On March 25, 1951, Helen married her high school sweetheart, Othal Wayne Gardner in Lamar, MO.

Helen worked as an optometric technician and was a member of Lamar Christian Church. Helen was devoted to her family and enjoyed attending her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities. Helen loved to bake and if you were lucky enough, she would often share these goodies.

Survivors include three sons; Kenton Wayne (Martha) Gardner, Jeffrey Dean (Courtney) Gardner and Scott Nelson Gardner; one daughter, Teresa Diane (Edwin) Moore; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Clint Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Lamar Christian Church with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, until service time at the church.
