(From Parker Mortuary)Lemont Love, Sr., a man known for his generosity, selflessness, and adventurous spirit, passed away suddenly on October 18, 2023, in Joplin, Missouri. Born on January 14, 1973, in Galena, Kansas, Lemont’s life was a testament to his enduring spirit and love for his family.
Lemont was a graduate of Joplin High School and spent several years as a dedicated truck driver for Plains Dedicated. The open road was a second home to him, and his adventurous spirit was evident in his love for his work. His colleagues remember him as a hardworking and dependable team member, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.
Lemont was a devoted father to his children, Bryce Love, Natasha Cogbill, Marcell Love, Nieja Love, Malaki Love, Destiney Love, Eboney Love, Lemont Love, Jr, and Amythist Love. He was also a loving father figure to Deandre Martin and Isaiah Martin. His love for his family was boundless, and he took great pride in their accomplishments. His grandchildren, Britian, Paris, Presley, Delilah, Tailynn, Schyler, Kieran, and Greysen, brought him immense joy, and his face would light up at the mention of their names. Lemont’s mother, Gloria Nelson of Port Smith, Virginia, remembers her son as a beacon of strength and positivity. Despite the challenges he faced, Lemont never lost his generous spirit or his selfless nature. Cherished by his siblings, Clifton Love, T-Roy Nelson, Stacey Love, Ebony Allmon and Sarah Lamb.
Lemont was preceded in death by a brother, Marcell Nelson.
He was always the first to offer help and the last to ask for it. Lemont’s former wife and friend, Teddi Harris, remembers him as a man of integrity and kindness. Their friendship remained strong over the years, a testament to Lemont’s capacity for love and understanding.
Funeral arrangements are planned for Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Thornhill-Dillon Chapel in Joplin with burial to follow at Parkway Cemetery in Joplin.
