Fred Houck

Fred "Linn" Houck, age 77, of Pierce City, MO passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon, MO. 

Mr. Houck was born in Tulsa, OK on Saturday, December 1, 1945; son of Linwood "Slim" Roy and Nona Vesta Marie (Ahrens) Houck. He was a 1963 graduate of Pierce City High School. 

He served in the Army where he was a sharpshooter and engineer. Mr. Houck was a Vietnam Veteran. Awards received include The Army Commendation Medal and the Gold Conduct Medal.








Mr. Houck married Dorothy "Fran" Chasteen on Friday, November 26, 1971, in Pierce City, MO. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Church, past Master of Decatur Lodge #400, past Commander of the American Legion, Pierce City, member of Valley of Joplin Scottish Rite, member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, and a member of Barry County Shrine Club and Barry County Trikes. He loved people. Mr. Houck owned Telstar Aluminum (established 1985) which was an aluminum foundry. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and classic cars. He owned a Model A and 1950 Ford Coupe. He loved his family and was proud of each of them.

Surviving are the following, one daughter, Julie Chrisco of Neosho, MO; four grandchildren, Donald Zachary Wormington, Lauren Rylee Wormington and husband Ricky Brown, McKenzie Pendergrass, and Jonathan Chrisco; one great-grandchild, Bradlee Wormington; two brothers, Frank "Evelyn" Houck of Grove, OK and Walt "Kathy" Houck of Neosho, MO; sister-in-law, Connie Houck of Wentworth, MO; brother-in-law, Larry Turner of Sarcoxie, MO; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Houck was preceded in death by his wife, Fran Houck; parents, Slim and Nona Houck; brother, Vernon Houck; and sister, Marie Turner.








The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Friday, October 27, 2023, beginning with a Masonic Service at 6:00 PM with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM.

Services will be at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Saturday, October 28, 2023, beginning at 1:00 PM with Rev. Hubert Conway officiating. Burial will follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Pierce City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Decatur Lodge #400 in Pierce City or the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
