Dorthey Divine

(From Weng Funeral Chapel)

Dorthey Ellen Divine was born on January 19, 1943 in Floydada, Texas to Joseph and Nora Smith. She was a homemaker and worked at the Big Smith factory in Carthage, MO until the factory closed. She then began a home cleaning business which she worked until she was 68 years old. She was always busy working in her yard and taking care of her home.

Dorthey loved going to church and helping where ever she could, food pantry, soup kitchen, and door greeter. She was an amazingly strong willed woman. She stood her ground and spoke her opinion. She could come up with an idea and make it work. She was very smart.

One of her gifts was writing poetry and this is one of her poems;

Thank God for the privilege of living, of breathing air.

The privilege of being alive, of such beauty everywhere.

Thank the good Lord for His mercy in giving me eyes to see,

A mind to learn and a voice to speak faith in eternity.

Thank God for the privilege of living, for sharing His earth and His sky.

That gift so rare, as the gift of life, is given to such as I.

Dorthey is survived by one sister, Lou Covington, three children, Deana, Jo Ann, and Thomas, six grandchildren, Erin, Angela, Jeffrey, Joshua, Seth, and Cheyenne, eleven great-grandchildren, Alejandra, Jeffrey Jr., Preston, Kaden, Michael Jr., Landon, Cruz, Joseph, Athena, and Freyja.

She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
